Theme 2: Laws Applicable to Intermediaries
General Clarifications and Sub-Themes:
1. General Clarifications
1.1. “Intermediaries” means social media intermediaries, goods and service providing platforms, OTT platforms, e-commerce platforms any other intermediary that falls within the definition contained in Section 2(w) of the IT Act
1.2. “Laws Applicable” means any and all laws that apply to intermediaries including but not limited to IT Act, Data Protection Act, Data Privacy and Protection Bill, Competition Act, IP related laws, etc.
2. Sub-Themes:
2.1. Emergence of dominant companies in the Social Media Market;
2.2. Application of the Data Protection Act on Intermediaries;
2.3. Impact the Data Privacy and Protection Bill will have on the Intermediaries;
2.4. Intermediaries and FDI opportunities in India;
2.5. Impact the “origin rule” has on e-commerce platforms;
Any other topic though not mentioned in the sub- themes specifically, but related either directly or indirectly to the theme “Laws Applicable to Intermediaries”.

2. Protection of Intellectual Property in Media and Broadcasting
3. Basics of IP
4. Basics of Media Law
5. The Indian Music Industry and its Copyright Law
6. Protection of Content curated on Social Media and the Intellectual Property Rights Involved
